Newcastle digs deep for Toy Story
Updated | By Staff Writer
The community and businesses in Newcastle have donated a whopping R140 000 in cash and toys to East Coast Radio's Toy Story.
Newcastle dug deep for Toy Story today, where Makhosi Khoza was broadcasting live from the Newcastle Mall.
The cash donations of R140 000 will go toward nutritiously designed food parcels that can feed a family of five for around four to six weeks.
“It was a tremendous day. People came out in their numbers and really demonstrated just how much they care for the underprivileged children in their community. There were small business owners challenging other businesses and even children handing over their pocket money. Newcastle will be a tough act to follow!” said East Coast Radio’s marketing manager, Renee Burton.
Toys to the value of around R10 000 were received, with the bulk of the donations being made in cash.
All the cash donations will go towards buying food parcels for communities surrounding Newcastle.
These food parcels are nothing short of a lifeline for many child-headed households who rely on school feeding schemes during the academic year.
If you would like to get involved, donations can be made until 18 December via the following means:
