The Long Short Walk

The stats show that of the lives lost on roads a quarter are pedestrians and most are kids. 'The Long Short Walk' is part of the Zenani Campaign and is in support of UN Global Road Safety week, 6-12 May 2013, themed around pedestrian safety. Footballer and philanthropist Didier Drogba joins Michelle Yeoh and Zoleka Mandela in calling on the world to unite behind The Long Short Walk. You can show your support in three easy steps:

1. Sign up by sending your deets to [email protected]
2. Get yourself to Mitchell Park at around 11am on Saturday 11th May
3. Walk down Florida road to the Durban Tourism offices

Well, what else were you going to do with your Saturday morning? Watch re-runs? Exactly.

Mother's Day with The Parlotones

Just about every Durbanite has enjoyed a live music show in our Botanic Gardens. It’s almost a right of passage to becoming a true banana boy/girl and it’s quite possibly the BEST way to spend Mother's Day. Pack a little feast basket, take a few sarongs and set up your picnic camp. The trick is to go early to make sure you nab a great spot. Yes, even if you have a ticket. Enjoy the shade of the old oak trees, take a stroll through the cycad garden and of course get ready to rock with the Parlotones. They set to play at about 2 pm. If you haven’t booked already, hurry up! All the details here.

Remo’s have really hit the nail on the head with their interior, its old world charm meets new school slick. The staff are nice and the ambiance makes you feel like you could simply stumble downstairs to bed. If you aren’t keen for Parlotones in the park then definitely book a table for mum at Remo’s.
