Break-dancers and poppers will be tearing up the stage at Durban’s largest break-dancing event on Thursday at Docklands Hotel.
The organisation behind the event, Shift, says that around 250 dance enthusiasts will take part and witness South Africa’s most talented break-dancers and poppers battle for the title of Underground King 2013 champion.
The event begins at 6.30pm.
Preston “krazy kayzo” Kyd was crowned champion in an unforgettable battle in 2012. He will be given the opportunity to defend his title against seven of the best b-boys in South Africa at the event.
Take a look at this incredible footage of Preston in action:
One of the biggest spin offs (pun intended) of the event is highlighting the growing sport to the youth.
This year Shift is proud to include popping in the competition. Four of Durban’s finest poppers have been pre-selected to battle for this year’s title.
Along with the excitement of the battles guests will enjoy performances by various dance crews and artists. There is R1000 up for grabs for the champion, as well as hampers.
The cost to go watch is R50 and the venue is Docklands Hotel (40 Mahatma Gandhi Rd).
