Scam alert

A listener, who asked not to be named, was scammed out of a copy of her Drivers licence and personal details. She had just put down the phone to Telkom - she'd been trying to resolve a fault, when two young guys arrived at her office offering assistance with applying for a Telkom line. She told them she was so frustrated and he offered to help get a new line installed, saying he worked in Umgeni Road. He took down all her personal info on a Telkom application form and left with a copy of her drivers licence. She called Telkom the next day and they confirmed they don't have staff who cold call in person, only telephonically. She's since called Transunion to activate a "note' onto her ITC record to alert her should someone do a credit check, so she can prevent this guy from getting credit on her name. They've activated this service.
