"Economy still not growing fast enough"

Higher Education funding, job creation and economic growth were some of the crucial points raised during last night's State of the Nation Address.

President delivered the formal address to a half-empty gallery in the National Assembly yesterday.


This after opposition parties the EFF, DA and Agang exited the chambers following various points of order being dismissed by The Speaker, Baleka Mbete and the Chairperson of the NCOP, Thandi Modise. 



Addressing members of Parliament, Zuma focused mainly on job creation. 



"However the economy is sill not growing fast enough to create the jobs we need. There are some of our people including out youth who have not worked for years," he said. 


Zuma also provided an outlook of the economic growth rate in 2017. 



"We anticipate an economic growth rate of 1.3% in 2017 following an estimated 0.5% in 2016," he said.
