At what age did you think you'd be married and why aren't you married?

That creepy question that leaves many people cringe at family get-togethers, has got to be, 'When are you getting married?". It reminds us why we prefer to not attend...Just kidding. 

But you have to admit, that question is a sure fire way of getting the singles out of the room. And in case you didn't know, it is certainly not a good question to ask anyone, unless it's your bestie and you have that kind of relationship. 

On that note, there is this notion that you concentrate on you in your twenties and then prepare for marriage in your thirties.

"The thinking goes that, if you wait until 30 or later to marry, you’re much more likely to have the maturity required both to make a good choice and to be a good spouse. 

When it comes to divorce, the research has generally backed up the belief that it’s best to wait until around 30 to tie the knot. The sociologist Nicholas Wolfinger of the University of Utah found that women who got married “too early” (mid-20s or earlier) were more likely to break up than their peers who married close to age 30." (The Wall Street Journal)

What was the most interesting about this topic was that in the U.S. a research study found that women who did marry before 30 who were not at risk of a failed marriage, were those that did not cohabitate with their partners. 

So ultimately it can be said that there is a risk when marrying early and then also when waiting. Some of the risks of waiting, could mean that you carry relationship baggage, while marrying at a young age could mean that you are not ready for this big venture...
