Is this what the future looks like?

As we move into the future, driving an electric car doesn't seem that far fetched anymore.

And with the overpowering word of Tesla, and the future of sustainable driving flying around at every corner, it seems we are no longer in a space of talking about it but actually living it.

But, yes there is a but, it seems the world of sustainable driving comes with its downfalls. And like any large corporation, there are those recalls that they would rather no one know about.

A man by the name of Mario Zelaya shared his Tesla story to TikTok recently. He shared that he was remotely locked out of his Tesla as the battery was dead.

The tricky part of it all was that he discovered a technical issue with the car battery during the warranty period but when the car was sent in for service, they did not check the battery.

Now after the warranty period had expired, Tesla is asking him to pay $26,000 (R460,792) for a new battery. Essentially a dead battery means that he cannot enter his vehicle. We bet they don't tell you that when you are buying the car...

The car is a 2013 model, and he paid $140,000 (R2.4-million) for the car.

P.S. He believes that Tesla remotely shut down the car because he had been complaining about them on TikTok.

@supermariozelaya My opinion: Tesla shut down my car over the air because my videos after refusing to pay for a new battery. #tesla #car ♬ original sound - Mario Zelaya

He posted an update on the car situation and said that he managed to get a copy of proof of ownership papers and sold the car on Facebook marketplace for $19,000 (R336,733).

The picture he paints is one of conspiracy as he states that he has been in contact with another Tesla owner who has experienced the same issues as him.

It seems you can buy an electric car and live a more sustainable life, but it comes with a sense of control...

Who knows what else they are tracking?

Check out his update video below, courtesy of TikTok. He has been banned from posting anything on his page until today, but we have yet to see any update on his page.

@supermariozelaya Replying to @Mario Zelaya Here’s an update and some clarifications on my dead 💩 Tesla. Also, someone is buying it tomorrow for $19K and is taking on the responsibility of opening up the car. I got 85 messages on FB Marketplace on it 😅. Guess I’m selling it for cheap? #tesla #car ♬ original sound - Mario Zelaya
