This week has been a hard hit into the reality of crime in our country. With the ongoing scams and the increase in robberies, it leaves us feeling somewhat depleted.

Notwithstanding the pop up loadshedding schedules that we've had to accommodate. Also many parts of Durban being left without water, leaves many residents irate and adds to their stress.

It's like that saying, 'it never rains, it pours'...

So when we came across this video, it really was the cherry on top (sense our cynicism). We are urged to be weary, be proactive, and, and, and... But there isn't a readymade warning that pops up whenever you come across a criminal.

If only life was like a video game with alerts and notifications...

The good news is that this woman showed us that you can act fast and it can literally save you from a bad situation.

Her fast response is what saved her from a robbery and potentially an abduction. A few weeks ago we saw CCTV footage of a businessman's son being abducted from a public parking area.

The alleged intention for the abduction - ransom. The video of the woman above happened near the Durban Beach Front. It certainly doesn't help that crime doesn't choose a particular time or place, but is so varied.

Notice how the suspects in the video were so strategic in making it look like they were just friends walking, but were actually positioning themselves in such a way that they could grab her.

Also, notice how they behaved so nonchalantly after she got away, so as not attract any attention to themselves. Be safe out there everyone, try not to walk around alone if possible, and if you are alone, make sure to be aware of your surroundings.
