What better way to make things more awkward? Ironically, the loud awkwardness is somehow less intimidating...

The 'No Pants Subway Ride', an annual global event started by Improv Everywhere in New York in 2002, inspired Londoners to start their own tradition.

The Upper Lip Society organised the No Trouser Tube Ride this year, the first since the pandemic.

The event saw many bare legged commuters travel on the tube this past Sunday.

The event saw people join at Chinatown and commence on their journey.

The motivation behind the event is pure fun and to have a giggle with other people who want to just let it all hang out.

But the event does come without some rules and regulations.

The Facebook Group that hosted the event clearly stated:

"Please don't wear anything overly close-fitting (so no thongs, banana hammocks or mankinis) or kilts without anything underneath. We don't want people to be disgusted, and the organisers do not want trouble so we are putting our trust in you." (Facebook)

They even addressed some FAQs, such as whether or not this event is legal.

According to law, it isn't exactly legal, but it seems there is some leeway on how you read the law.

"The Sexual Offences Act 2003 applies only to aggressive genital exposure with intent to shock those who want not to see the genitals." (Facebook)
