Sometimes when you are stuck in life - often described as 'mental warfare' - it can be difficult to see the next chapter.

This is likely down to the fact that not everyone has been taught how to care for their mental health.

The above coupled with the universal stereotype of men always having to have their lives together and fulfil the societal responsibilities has caused a serious block in men's mental health.

Jane Linley-Thomas visited Vic Naidoo a few weeks back to chat about her initiative this Movember.

She has been highlighting different men from all over KwaZulu-Natal, taking a journey with them on their mental health.

Vic Naidoo recently featured on her walk on highlighting the importance of caring for our men and their mental state.

Vic Naidoo, our outspoken and unapologetic radio personality, has allowed us a peek into his mental space and as much as that was not easy to do, the benefits of having the conversation and encouraging others to start their own conversations outweighs the fear involved in speaking your truth.

Listen to his conversation with Jane Linely-Thomas in studio at the start of the initiative:

It was important for us to highlight the way he answered the question about his mental health. His honesty rings true of many people's experiences.

Perhaps not everyone can relate, but there is a major part of the male population that hasn't even addressed that they struggle with their mental health.

"Better than yesterday and even better than the day before that. My well-being is a work in progress. I am engaging in conscious living making decisions every day for my peace. Honestly, there was a point where I was losing control, but self-awareness and the desire to be healthy and happy has helped my journey."
