When you think about the beach, there's the line of thinking that takes you to cocktails, bathing suits and sandcastles.

But it's not often that you think about skinny dipping. Well, at least not when it comes to South African beaches.

Alas, this is exactly what South Africa is known for it seems.

"Last week, MyDatingAdviser.com released its top skinny-dipping destinations in the world, and South Africa features prominently on the list, with some of the best locations." (MSN)

There are things that bring people happiness, and unsurprisingly being in their natural state, aka their birthday suits, is high up on the list.

MyDatingAdviser took 100 nude beaches across the globe and compared them as a way of determining the best locations.

"This study considered the beach quality, safety, weather and lodging.

This was across seven key metrics of skinny dipping friendliness: pollution, Blue Flag status, weather, air temperature, water temperature, safety, and hotel cost." (MSN)

The top six skinny dipping locations in South Africa are:

1. Mpenjati Nature Reserve

2. Palm Beach in Port Edward

3. The Otter Trail in the Tsitsikamma National Park

4. Jonkershoek Tweede Waterval in Stellenbosch

5. Sardinia Bay in Gqeberha

6. Sandy Bay in Cape Town.

Interestingly enough the top two are in KZN. If given the choice, would you visit a skinny dipping beach?
