This day was created to help recognise the importance of honey bees and the beekeepers tending the hives, while encouraging people to buy their honey locally.

The most important part of this day is the educational aspect. Now, more than ever, it is incredibly necessary to make people aware of the importance of bees and the role they play in the ecosystem.

Without the honeybees pollinating plants, many nutritious plants wouldn't reproduce!

A tip for when a bee gets too close to your personal space: Either hold still or move slowly away. As long as it doesn't feel threatened, it will fly away.

So what can you do to honour bees on #WorldHoneyBeeDay while helping these little friends: Collect and spread wildflower seeds to promote honey bee pollination or give the gift of honey to a friend or family member.

Here's to celebrating our little buzzing buddies!
