We've heard of people shying away from certain trends because it goes against their values or beliefs, but we haven't heard of a country banning them completely!

Kim Jong-un, the North Korean Supreme Leader, has created a ban on mullet hairstyles, skinny jeans, and nose piercings. Why? Because there is fear of young North Koreans being influenced by this "decadent" lifestyle of the Western culture.

Among the aforementioned things, those will with bright coloured hair and spiky hairstyles will be sent to labour camps, as stated by the leader.

The 'invasion of a capitalistic lifestyle', as mentioned by a state-run newspaper, is what is being seen by many young North Koreans, and in an effort to stop this lifestyle, the ban has been put in place.

"History teaches us a crucial lesson that a country can become vulnerable and eventually collapse like a damp wall regardless of its economic and defence power if we do not hold on to our own lifestyle,' revealed a North Korean newspaper, Rodong Sinmun.

We doubt that this is the way to encourage a society that is free from 'collapsable' things, such as drugs, rape, crime, and the list could go on and on. But we do believe that as harsh as this seems, it could be that this country is opting to take things back to their traditional lifestyles and encouraging the youth to follow this pattern of life.

As much as this is seen as extreme to many, it is also a very rigid way of looking at the evolution of society.

An approved list of 15 hairstyles has been released by the country in their attempt at striking all things 'decadent'. In addition, the "members of the state-run youth organisation often act as the nation's "fashion police" and their duties include censuring clothes that look too 'foreign'," The Guardian reported.

All we can say is, what is this world coming to? R.I.P nose piercings, skinny jeans, and mullets... although we kind of agree about the latter.
