Gizzelle becomes the first woman from the African continent to take the crown.
South Africans continue doing incredible things around the world, and this week, our very own Gizzelle Uys made history by becoming the first woman from Africa to nab the Miss Eco International title.
The pageant took place in Egypt earlier this month and is
extensive in its process as the women competing are expected to spend 17 days
participating in various cultural activities while preparing for the pageant’s
luxury main event.
The organisation explains that Miss Eco International is a pageant that celebrates women with a passion for saving the planet and making choices that are better for the environment. They explain that there is a big focus on promoting the UN Sustainable Development Goals and focuses on the wellness of the mind, body and spirit of all the candidates that represent all th countries from all over the world.”
Gizzelle wowed judges with her eclectic approach to environmental issues and ultimately made history by becoming the first woman from Africa to win the title – although the pageant takes place yearly in Egypt.
Naturally, Gizzelle is overwhelmed by the love and support she has received since winning the pageant and shared a message of thanks on her Instagram page. Gizzelle adds that she looks forward to making even more of a difference during her reign.
Congratulations, Gizzelle! You’ve made Mzansi very proud.
