Vic Naidoo has a fascination with true crime stories. He catches up with Nicole Engelbrecht, the host of Africa's most successful true crime podcast. Listen to the full interview here.
We heard recently that watching True Crime stories could be a major red flag.
But the truth is that once you begin watching them, the thrill of wanting to know more or becoming consumed by the motives of the crime can really rope you in.
Nicole Engelbrecht is a South African true crime podcaster and author. Her story is an example of how you can completely pivot from one industry to another successfully.
She comes from two decades of corporate management experience and shifted into podcasting. Nicole is the creator and host of the 'True Crime South Africa' podcast, as well as the author of 'Samurai Sword Murder: The Morne Harmse Story'.
Besides holding rank as the most successful independent podcaster in South Africa, she has the most successful true crime podcast in Africa.
Vic Naidoo was fascinated to speak to Nicole about her journey into the true crime genre and space. Listen to their full interview below.
Being on the top five list of most listened-to podcasts in South Africa says something about both her content and our interests as South Africans.
Engelbrecht's list of accolades is amazing, including her win of the APVA award for the Best Crime Podcast in 2022 and being nominated again in 2023.
Her ability to capture audiences with real-life crime stories speaks to her storytelling ability and sadly for us, the abundant content that is available to her.
