It’s a platform that connects small business owners affected by the looting with volunteer mentors, to support them as they rebuild.

There have been moments of complete disarray when it comes to the way things have unfolded over the past week. Many business owners, employees, and community members have felt stuck, how can we move forward from all this destruction and damage?

But communities have come forth in leaps and bounds and have proven that they can rise up no matter what is thrown at us. Many people are using their talents and their resources to join in efforts of cleaning up, food drives, and even mentoring and helping with mental well-being.

Joshua Cox posted onto the Rebuild SA-Volunteer Group earlier today and he brought some hope to small business owners.

"We've just launched a initiative called Restore SA. Similar to this platform in some sense, but specifically focused on people wanting to volunteer their time to mentor small business owners affected by the looting.

"Please sign up if you would like to volunteer or if you need support. Otherwise, please feel free to share with your networks. We can all do something, even if it's just spreading the word.

"This is a moment our children will look back on one day and ask 'What did you do?'. I want to have an answer to that question that I can be proud of..." Joshua Cox

When we think about the heartbreaking situations that many of us have had to go through, it can be damning for many people, especially the business owners. Some business owners just started their entrepreneurial journeys, others have been in the game for decades.

Some of the factories, small businesses, malls, and Spaza shops that have been around for some time have been burnt to the ground. The sense of history that each of those places have brought to our city cannot be erased, the memories will always be there. But we have to dust off the hurt, the anger and the damages and move forward from all of this.

Joshua is encouraging small business owners to sign up so that they can come together as a community of businesses and rebuild their legacies. We have to commend them for trying to help business owners in a time that really had many holding their heads in their hands.
