A missing snake on the loose isn't the ideal thing to hear when you are out shopping. Whether you are squeamish or not, the fact that a reptile is on the loose and could slither its way into your shopping bags, leaves the hairs on our neck standing tall...

Reports of a missing 12-foot Burmese Python were released yesterday inside the Mall of Louisiana, in the US. The St George Fire Department reported initially that the entire mall was shut down, but only access to the Blue Zoo Aquarium was blocked off.

The python, who's name is Cara, is said to be friendly and non-venomous. Just the scenario has the makings of a movie, can you see it now, a thriller, Cara the snake escapes...we can see it becoming a real box office breaker.

On a serious note, though, the Blue Zoo Chief Marketing Officer made a comment to the press:

The zoo also mentioned that Cara loved to interact with the guests during her Snake Education Shows. We also learned that although Cara was 12-feet long, which equates to nearly four meters, a Burmese Python can reach lengths of 23 feet, which is roughly around 7 meters.

When we think of this type of snake, we remember that video of Britney Spears performing at the MTV VMAs when she held a Burmese Python around her neck for part of the performance for 'Slave For You'.
