Fire! Graduate designs gun that turns tears into ammunition

Obviously, this was a heartbreak story that needed to be turned into something useful....

We cannot even imagine the type of heartache it takes for someone to be motivated enough to create a gun like this?!

We are throwing back to that time we heard about a design graduate that designed a rather controversial gun.

The gun, which was presented at the Dutch Design Week about six years ago, was created after a student felt unheard.

The gun collects tears as you cry and the tears gather into a brass tube that goes into the base of the gun. There, the tears are frozen into bullets by using dry ice.

"Designer Yi-Fei Chen reportedly created the gun after an "altercation" with her tutor, according to Dezeen. Chen says she created the gun as a "visual metaphor" for her struggle to speak her mind, rather than as a deadly weapon for people who are out of tissues." (iflscience)

Having studied in the Netherlands, Chen, who was born in Taiwan, found it difficult to speak her mind with her tutors. Even though it is very much considered acceptable to do so in the Netherlands.

It was reported that Chen was allowed to shoot and point the gun at her tutor at her graduation ceremony.

There were no reported injuries against the tutor, which allows many to make the assumption that the gun didn't do any real damage.

Definitely a cool concept, but one that should be celebrated for the purpose of innovation and not practicality, because we don't want to encourage any sort of violence.
