Fancy trying this unique gin that uses green ants for flavour?

Sounds inviting, but to some, it might sound like a dare gone wrong...

There are some amazing alcohol fusions that have arisen over the years, creating a new era for alcohol drinkers.

With the art of mixology and people experimenting with their levels of taste, we are bound to hear about very different infusions.

One such infusion has shocked many of us and is distilled in Adelaide, Australia.

"Green Ant Gin is a unique gin made by an Adelaide distillery that is infused with green ants for an extra bit of citrus flavor and a hint of coriander." (Oddity Central)

We know, it sounds pretty 'Fear Factor', but green ants are a great source of protein and have been eaten by the Australian Aborigines for thousands of years.

Ants may be regular to us but besides being a protein source, they are also a flavour bomb.

"Adelaide-based food company Something Wild came up with the idea of using the ants for their natural citrus flavor in a spirit that has won multiple awards since its launch in 2017." (Oddity Central)

Weirdly enough, the distillery uses green ants as a decorative source in the actual alcohol bottle, but it also does add flavour.

"While the green ants in every bottle of Green Ant Gin are mostly for show, like the worms in some mezcal bottles, the brave of heart can actually try to chew on them for that fresh acidic zing." (Oddity Central)
