You could be getting 6 days off work if you're a non-smoker

On Damon Beard's Big Debate: Do you think South African companies should adopt a policy that allows non-smokers up to 6 day off to compensate for the smoker's taking breaks?

A company in Japan is giving it's non-smoking staff 6 extra days off a year in the hope they can motivate their employees to quit smoking.

The idea here is to get employees to quit smoking through incentives rather than penalties.

Smoke breaks are said to take up to 15 minutes a time, so this company decided to give non-smokers some extra time off to compensate.

At least 30 of the company’s 120 employees have already taken time off and the new way of thinking has already encouraged at least four people to kick the habit.

Is this a great initiative and a nice incentive for non-smokers or is this unfair to those people who smoke?

Where do we draw the line?

Would it be right to say then that people who don't drink coffee so don't take time out of their day to head to the kitchen for a coffee break should also be given time off?
