When 23-year-old Luke was growing up in Durban North, his life revolved around rugby and cricket – until mischievous behaviour had him grounded for six months in Grade 10.

To while away the time, he picked up the guitar and never wanted to put it down again. When he had to choose between sport and music in his matric year, music won. He even dropped Accounting and took Music instead. In 2012, Luke moved to Cape Town and studied Environmental Management through Unisa while working and performing in Cape Town’s famous Stardust theatrical diner.

Luke won himself a spot on Team Lira with the Seal anthem 'Crazy', after both Lira and fellow songstress Karen Zoid turned their chairs for him.
