Tight squeeze: Bizarre footage shows 24 people crammed in a tuk-tuk

If you thought that a tuk-tuk fits, at most, three people then think again because this footage will make you think otherwise.

Overcrowding in public transport has become a problem for many countries around the world - not only in South Africa. Ordinarily, a minibus taxi should only carry between 12 - 15 passengers at a time, but I have heard many stories of driver's cramming as many people as possible. Talk about a tight squeeze!

Well, throw all those overcrowding stories aside because this particular story will have you scratching your head. A tuk-tuk or auto rickshaw usually fits around three people in it, but 24?! I know, right!

IOL reported that video footage surfaced which was shot in the Telangana state of India showing 24 women and kids getting out of a tuk-tuk one-by-one. While many took the opportunity to have a good giggle, it's dangerous. If caught overloading in India, the government has proposed a fine which is payable by the driver.

Tuk-tuks are famous in India. They're cheap, and tourists love snapping pics of themselves in it as they make their way around towns.

It's not sure what happened to the driver or the passengers following the video.

This is probably the most number of people I've ever seen crammed into a tuk-tuk - ever!
