The unemployment rate in South Africa rose to 27.6% in the first quarter of 2019 from 27.1% in the previous period. It is the highest jobless rate since quarter three of 2017, as the number of unemployed went up by 62,000 to 6.2-million.

Many South Africans often find it difficult to look for jobs because of the crazy things that happen while looking for employment.
In one of the funnier moments of job-hunting gone wrong, it’s been a decade since Guy Goma became a celebrity after he was mistaken for an internet expert and interviewed live on BBC News.
The unemployed computer technician had been at the BBC for a job interview. The graduate from the Congo gained worldwide attention after an unlikely mix-up saw him being interviewed on air instead of Guy Kewney.
