New born twins in India named Corona and Covid
Updated | By East Coast Radio
Amid the world pandemic, a couple in India's central state of Chhattisgarh named their newborn twins Corona and Covid.
We've come across some pretty unique names but none like this, Corona and Covid were born on 27 March in a government hospital in the state capital Raipur. Mother of the boy and girl Preeti Verma (27) says she her husband wanted to make the day memorable.
The delivery occurred after facing many difficulties.
The couple said the babies names would remind them of the hardships that they faced during the lockdown. They explained that the names are beautiful in their own way, Corona means crown in Latin.
However, the couple faced many issues with their elders regarding changing their names. The country is under three-week lockdown and have implemented strict rules to stay at home and the suspension of transport services.
