Man severely injures himself in an attempt to capture selfie

We all love a good selfie - but within reason! With the rising craze of daredevil selfies, how far is too far?

The rise in the number of people dying as a result of taking selfies has led a team of researchers to develop an app which will warn people when their lives are at risk.

While the app is far from the finished article, people are still doing the most ridiculous things in search of the 'perfect' selfie.

The latest incident involves a man who ended up in hospital after being hit by a train while he was trying to take a selfie as it approached. This boggles my mind! Why would you take a selfie as a train speeds up in the background?!

In the video clip, you can see the man smiling at his phone's camera and as the train approaches, he keeps his right arm pointed out. There’s someone shouting and obviously warning him, but then he’s suddenly hit by the train and the video goes blank.

This man isn’t the only person to have taken a selfie in a dangerous place. Last year a woman died after she apparently fell out of a window while trying to take a selfie.

I know that sometimes it feels like the best moment and that you can't afford to miss the opportunity, but remember safety first. A picture can always be captured at another time and your life is more valuable than a selfie.
