Harvard research study finds the ultimate secret to happiness
Updated | By Damon Beard
If you thought that being rich was the secret to being happy, you're sadly mistaken.
A study by Harvard University that took 80 years to complete has found that relationships are far more important than money or success.
According to Daily Mail, the study was conducted using a sample size of over 268 men and tracked their behaviours over time. They found that close relationships came out as a driving factor which led to better health, and also found that the participants would put relationships over money or success in order to be happy.
"Taking care of your body is important, but tending to your relationships is a form of self-care too. That, I think, is the revelation," said a Psychiatrist at Massachusetts General Hospital and a Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School.

The term 'relationship' in this study does not only include love between a couple, but also relationships with friends and family.
I think the study makes sense. I mean, good friends who care about you will protect you from emotional harm and danger, and ensure that you're on the right track in life.
It's the same with your relationship with your partner. Finding yourself in a traumatic and loveless relationship will lead to a sharp decline in happiness.
