Dad arrested for confiscating his daughter's cell phone
Updated | By Zaba
A father in Texas couldn’t believe it when there was a knock at his door at 2 a.m. The police had arrived to arrest him for taking a cell phone away from his daughter.
A man in Dallas in the USA was found not guilty of property theft, after he was arrested and charged when he took away his daughter's phone as punishment.
The man, Ronald Jackson, found what he thought was a rude message on his 12-year-old daughter's phone and he decided to confiscate the phone. The daughter then went to a friend's house and called her mom (the parents are separated).
The police were then sent to Ronald's house, to which he refused to give back the phone. "I decided the police don't interfere with my ability to parent my daughter" he said.
He was arrested in April 2015 for theft because of this.
Now, I am not sure about you, but my phone got confiscated a lot when I was younger, and well it was just punishment. Not once did I ever think "hey, my parents stole my phone from me, therefore let me press charges".
At what point should the police not interfere when it comes to cases of parents instilling some discipline in their children?
Do you agree with the cops arresting this father?
