Ty Keogh from M-Net’s series 'Still Breathing' chats to Terence Pillay
Ty Keogh is, without a
doubt, one of the most prolific actors in South Africa. Now living between
London and Los Angeles, the talented actor is back on home soil to star in the
new M-Net drama series, 'Still Breathing'. Terence Pillay catches up with
him in a candid one-on-one.

Ty Keogh is no stranger to
the limelight, having grown up in the film, television, and theatre industries. He is the
son of acclaimed South African actor Danny Keogh and producer Debbie Keogh.
He started his career aged 14 the hard way, behind the camera on film sets
where his jobs included the likes of scenic set painter, set builder, props man, and even an animal wrangler. Later, Ty honed his skills as an art director on
commercials and music videos before eventually taking on the role of director.
At 16 he began appearing in TV commercials for some high profile brands, including Vodacom UK, Pepsi USA, Opel Europe, Orange Communications, Nestle,
KFC, and many more.
His first on-screen role came in 2003 he where he worked alongside British
actor Vinnie Jones in the film 'Blast'. He played the younger version of Jones's character 'Michael'.
Since then, he began carving a comfortable niche in front of the camera in major
international films, including 'Blood Diamond' (with Leonardo DiCaprio), 'The Deal' (with Meg Ryan), 'Goodbye Bafana' (with Joseph Fiennes), and 'Starship Troopers
Marauder' (with Casper Van Dien).
Moving to London in 2008 he signed with the prestigious agent Jeremy Conway and
appeared in several short films as well as two BBC television shows before
returning to South Africa.
He played the role of 'Jack van Reenen' in the M-Net soapie 'The Wild', and more
recently wowed audiences as one of the lead actors in the Showmax original
drama, 'The Girl from St Agnes'.
Now he’s back in the country and on the small screen with 'Still Breathing', an M-Net original series that focuses on love, friendship, complicated relationships, betrayal, and long-kept secrets. It forms the emotional crux of a story about a circle of former friends who have drifted apart over time but are drawn together again when tragedy strikes.
The 13-part family drama will air on M-Net (DStv 101) from 27 February at 20:00.
