#TrendReport: Tech company finds novel way to scam the scammers
We've all received a few suspicious mails in our inboxes, which are designed to try and catch us out. As a way to fight back, a New Zealand-based company has come up with a tactic to stop scammers in their tracks.
While most suspicious emails are just the junkmail of modern life, there are some dangerous ones out to trick unsuspecting victims into giving up their information.

A company based in New Zealand called Netsafe have set up a service that uses chatbox technology to waste scammers’ time by responding on your behalf to emails. As Chris Reid, Trend Researcher at the International Trend Institute, explains, it’s a modern solution to a very modern problem. They use predefined cues and responses to keep stringing scammers along, and the idea is that the more time they waste, the less time they have to trick real people.
