#TrendReport: The Hardwearing Wardrobe

Fast fashion trends may mean that our clothing often feels disposable, but one athletic wear brand has chosen to take a longer outlook instead.
Fashion brands are often criticised for making their offerings obsolete after only a few months. It’s not only expensive for consumers, but it’s also completely unsustainable.

Conscious consumption is an ongoing trend we’re seeing in reaction to this, and as a result, lots of newer brands are really focusing on making items that last instead.
Vollebak is known for creating cutting edge adventure sport gear, but for one of their latest offerings they wanted to see if they could make the longest-lasting sweatshirt possible. Their deceptively basic 100 Year Hoodie is exactly that, and it’s been manufactured to stand up to an intense amount of wear and tear in the process.

And as Chris Reid, trend researcher at the International Trend Institute, explained in his conversation with Jane Linley-Thomas, it might signal a new way of looking at our own wardrobes too.
