Trend Report: Pinterest makes searching visual

Pinterest has been pretty good at cornering the market when it comes to craft and DIY content.

There’s even a whole genre of “Pinterest fail” pictures documenting people’s ambitious but hilariously badly executed projects inspired by the site. They’ve been trying to make finding content even easier now, however, but allowing people to search for inspiration more naturally.

Their focus is now on food, and with over 15 billion recipes already recorded on the site, they want to make it simpler for people to browse them.

And they’ve done this with the new Pinterest Lens tool.

This search feature uses artificial intelligence to find content and, as Chris explains to Jane, it says something interesting about our relationship with technology more generally too.
