This 21-year-old has a rare allergy to water

"I've heard of strange allergies before, but this one has to take the cake," says Stacey Norman.

Luckily for me, I do not have any allergies, but I have recently read online about the weirdest allergies in the world.

According to Geek, some of these include:

  1. Sunlight - So that means Vampires really do exist!
  2. The smell of fish - Urgh, Ew!
  3. Wood - If you plan on going into carpentry, sorry for you.
  4. Exercise - Okay, I'm pretty sure I have experienced this recently.

However, never in my life have I even heard of an allergy to water, but it does exist. It's called 'aquagenic pruritus' and it's an incredibly rare allergy. It is reported that whoever has the allergy, when they come into contact with water, their skin flares up with rashes and it can be excruciating.

Niah Selway from the UK is allergic to water and she has described to the New York Post the agony that she experiences when she comes into contact with it. I guess it doesn't help that she lives in a rainy country as well.

So the next time a friend of yours says they will pass on the water because they're allergic to it, don't laugh. It's actually a thing.
