Taylor Swift's music videos watched more than TV shows
Updated | By Tamlyn Canham
Either US
television is going to the dogs, or people just like watching Taylor Swift and
her “squad” kick butt in leather.
Nielsen recently released a study that showed music videos are just as popular, or in Taylor Swift’s case more popular, than some of the best shows on TV.
The week that Taylor released Bad Blood in 2015, videos on her YouTube page got a bigger audience than all but one network show.
NCIS: Los Angeles was the only show to beat the 25-year-old’s 18 million views the week of May 17.
Taylor currently has two music videos featured in the Top 10 most watched videos on YouTube, Shake It Off and Blank Space, which have been seen on the video sharing site more than 2.8-billion times.
Drake and Rihanna also beat several TV shows the week they dropped their Hotline Bling, and B*tch Better Have My Money videos.
Vevo officials, who commissioned the Nielsen study, say that while TV is not dead, it is clear that a lot of audiences are shifting to online.
