#ParentDiaries: When your kids throw you curveballs at the last minute

If you talk to any parent, they will tell you that no two days are the same. Just when you think you have things planned out, your kid rocks up and throws things out of whack. Jane decided to share some of her moments with you from her personal experience.

Being a parent has its own set of challenges, and things tend to take a turn very quickly - especially when you have things planned down to a T.

While at one of my kids' sports days, I heard two moms talking about how their kids throw them curveballs the night before or the morning of an event at school. This includes phrases such as: "Hey mom I have to dress up as someone from medieval times for my class outing this morning", or announcing the night before that a science project is due. Yikes!

I, like many moms, have had the reality of hitting a supermarket at first light to pick the forgotten plate of eats for the gala spread, but for the most part, nail this part of parenting. 

My son has a pirate day at school coming up, and we have gone all out with a teabag stained treasure map, parrot on the shoulder, and even a message in a bottle. 

I think it's probably because our kids are still small that their homework books and the parenting WhatsApp groups usually save the day.
