Online dating: A modern solution to finding love?

When it comes to finding love, could the answer lie in a not-so-traditional method? Jane decided to talk about it during Tuesday's edition of Jane's World.

Finding a date can prove to be tricky in today's day and age. Many turn to their friends to hook them up or even send them on a blind date. But what about online dating? It's pretty popular amongst some in the modern society and I chatted to a friend of mine about it and it got me thinking. 

A friend of mine has recently decided to give online dating a try. While at my home over the festive season, she showed me how the popular app Tinder works and I was enthralled, to say the least.

Okay, take into account that I’m so far gone out of the dating scene that I’ve completely lost touch with dating in the traditional sense. But there are so many new online websites that one can register and meet people on. That I understood, but dating apps also give you how far the person is to you in kilometers, which for me just seems a little freaky. I mean, isn't it a bit too 'stalkerish'? 

Don’t call me old fashioned, but isn’t a person supposed to introduce themselves to you via a friend or at a party? Not over a laptop and an internet connection? I mean, you don’t know what’s out there, and so many times you hear of the old catfish story of what was shown online as far as appearance goes was not the case in broad daylight.
