It's hard not to think of the movie 'Cool Runnings' while reading this story. It's an all-time classic! What a movie! It followed the journey of four Jamaicans who dreamt of competing in the Winter Olympics.

That story is much like that of these three Nigerian women, who will be representing their country at the upcoming Winter Olympics from 9 to 25 February in PyeongChang, South Korea.

Seun Adigun, Ngozi Onwumere, and Akuoma Omeoga are the driving force in the sled and are hoping to bring home gold. They are the first African bobsled team to head to the Olympics after qualifying for the games back in November 2017.

However, the trio have admitted that they are terrified each time they enter a bobsled as it travels at high speeds. So before hitting the track, they kneel in prayer to help calm their nerves. It's almost a ritual for them. It's tough not thinking about the dangers one could face going down a steep course in a bobsled.

The women grew up in the USA but still are very much connected to their roots here in Africa

These women are ballsy! I can't imagine going to work and being scared every day?!

I am such a sissy that I can't even go on a rollercoaster without fearing the worst. Even those red sky chairs on the Durban Beachfront freak me out. I was recently in Cape Town and went on the Cape Eye. I had a mild panic up there, I had to give myself a serious team talk. Eek!
