Man seen comforting suicidal woman, stops her from jumping
Updated | By Justin James
This just proves that there are still some kindhearted, caring people in this world.
Over the last few years, we have heard of more and more suicides. According to Daily Maverick, in South Africa alone, there is a suicide reported every hour, and we have the eighth-highest suicide rate in the world.
The South African Depression and Anxiety Group (SADAG) has also said that the rate for teens committing suicide has doubled over the last 15 years.
However, one good Samaritan from New York was seen attempting to do his part to curb the suicide rate by coming to the rescue of a woman who wanted to jump off a bridge.

CBS New York reported that a witness was walking up the subway stairs when she saw the woman and a man sitting on a beam over the stairs. The witness first thought nothing of the scene, but it was only when witnesses said that the woman was saying 'suicidal things' that worry started to set in.
Thankfully, a good Samaritan came to her rescue to try and calm her as well as comfort her during her traumatic experience. Onlookers alerted the police who came with an ambulance to take her to the hospital, and more importantly to a place of safety.
Have you ever been in a situation where you risked your life to save someone else's?
