Bridget is the editor of 'Sweet Life' and a Type 1 (an autoimmune condition which most often occurs in younger people and the body makes no insulin at all, making it essential that the individual takes insulin to control the levels of sugar in their blood) diabetic.

She is also a journalist, author, and published her first novel the same year she was diagnosed. She is passionate about showing the positive side of the condition and proving that diabetes doesn’t have to stop you from living a healthy, happy life.

In 2016, Diabetes mellitus became the second most common natural cause of death in South Africa, so it's time to become aware of diabetes and the effects on society as a whole. Diabetes is a condition in which the body does not produce enough or properly respond to insulin. Insulin, a hormone, which is produced in the pancreas, allows cells to absorb glucose, which they turn into energy.

Bridget is a friend of mine and if there is one person who loved to drink tea and bake cake it was Brij! Out of all the people to have to watch the tea time treats, I hoped never to say her as I know how much she loved it.

The #Talk is for everyone! Hearing Bridget's story about living a healthy and happy life with Diabetes is both motivating and encouraging.
