KZN superstar completes her first Ironman challenge

Joani Mitchell, a KZN local, recently completed her first Ironman African Championship challenge in Port Elizabeth. Jane caught up with her after the grueling race.
Listen as Jane chats to Joani in the podcast and read more below:
Sunday saw just over 2,000 triathletes take on the Ironman African Championship challenge in Port Elizabeth.
Just watching on TV was exhausting enough. The grueling, unforgiving test of endurance included a 3.8km sea swim, 180km cycle and if that's not enough, a 42.2km marathon to end it all off. My dear, darling friend and KZN local Joani Mitchell had us glued to our TV as we saw her slog it out for 14 hours.
Months and months of hard work and determination saw her cross the finish line. It's almost like the day is a formality after all the blood, sweat and tears getting to that point.
It was so emotional seeing her finish the race as she flew the flag for KZN, herself, and her darling nephew Marco.

A race like this is a true test of character and I couldn't be more proud of Joani. If you have had the joy of meeting her, she is one of the most positive, caring, loyal, and dedicated people you will ever meet. Well done, my darling, you really can do anything!
I can't wait to cheers with you over a glass of bubbles! A huge thank you to Rory for keeping us posted with every stroke, peddle, and step along of the way! Such love!
