Homeless child does homework in the rain
Updated | By Jane Linley-Thomas
This little girl would not let the rain prevent her from doing her homework despite not having a roof over her head.
This footage is such a wake-up call to my younger self who did not take school work seriously at all. I wonder how my younger self would have felt being shown this? I wonder how my children will react to it? We have so much to be grateful for.

The video shows the touching moment an eight-year-old girl struggles to do her homework in the rain - pulling a coat over her head to shelter her from the rain, while her mother was asleep.
Despite the unfortunate circumstances, this young girl pulls a coat over herself and continues with her work.
I want to finish my homework and do well at school. Then I can have a good job and take care of myself and my family. I need to finish the work for the teacher.- Elaine Dolfo
The little girl's father works as a tricycle taxi driver but has been ill and been unable to work. The family was evicted out of their home a few days before the video was made, as they could not pay the rent.
