Facebook plea for rare blood type to help injured girl on holiday in Thailand worked!

A girl who put out a plea for blood after her best friend
was knocked off her scooter while travelling in Thailand received an amazing response!
A 21-year-old girl from the UK suffered serious injuries when her scooter was involved in a crash with a car in Chiang Mai.
Due to her rare blood type, A negative, she desperately needed people to donate blood because fewer than 1% of Thai people have negative blood types.
This spurred Lucy Hills’ family and friends to launch the social media campaign for other Western travellers to come forward and donate blood:
Queues of people reportedly turned up at the hospital offering to give the relatively rare type of blood needed by Lucy Hill.
Her best friend posted on Facebook that she was still in intensive care but had received a blood transfusion and was out of immediate danger at the hospital in Chiang Mai after the social media appeal prompted the required blood donations.
