#DurbanStorm survivor and hero's heartwarming reunion

Amidst the devastating storm which caused havoc in Durban last week, there were countless people that rose to the occasion to assist others. This story of two complete strangers had Jane in tears.

I was not personally stuck in the storm, but I can only begin to imagine how people dealt with being confronted with an unknown situation?

Janet Hart, one of the countless people caught in the rain on the N2, found herself in a scary situation. One can only imagine the pure terror that this woman must have felt when her car began to fill with water during the torrential downpour which wreaked havoc last week? In a moment of shock, she was struck with two scenarios - stay in or get out of the car. She chose to get out.

According to IOL, in the blink of an eye, this story took the most incredible turn as a complete stranger, Sibusiso Matrick Mbhele, waded through waist-high water to get to her. This was a pure act of selflessness.

The two were reunited a few days later and images of their meeting brought me to tears. What a powerful and moving moment between two complete strangers.

You know me - I am the most liberal person and so grateful that I have not been conditioned to see race, but to rather focus on what unifies us as South Africans.

This image for me is what South Africa should be about - regardless of different backgrounds and stories. At the end of the day, we are all people with the same wants, needs, and desires.

This is one incredible story and it makes me overwhelmed with joy that it is a proudly KZN one.
