At last! Hugh Grant finally ties the knot at 57

Is there a perfect age to say 'I do'? At the age of 57, Hugh Grant has got hitched to his longtime girlfriend.

Ah, yay! The eternal on-screen bachelor finally said 'I do'!

As we all know, Hugh has had a pretty scandalous love life which ranges from Liz Hurley to the backseat of his car with Devine Brown. I am happy that he has settled down, albeit at 57-years-old. He married 39-year-old Swedish television producer, Anna Eberstein at a low-key civil ceremony in London’s Chelsea district.

I mean, George Clooney only married at 53 after claiming he would be an eternal bachelor. Could this be the new trend?

This makes me wonder if marriages would be more successful if people married later on in life? You know once they have gone through the stages of life and arrived at the place of true self and comfort, it makes for an interesting thought.

According to Psychology Today, extensive research has already shown that married people tend to report greater overall life satisfaction than their single or divorced counterparts.

The study suggests:

Hugh and George are not alone here. Here are some of my favourite personalities that chose to settle down later in life:

  1. Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi - Ellen DeGeneres was 50-years-old when she wed her longtime love, Portia de Rossi back in August 2008.

  2. Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden - Cameron Diaz found her happily-ever-after at age 42 when she married Benji Madden in a secret ceremony at her LA home in January 2015.

3. Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka - Neil Patrick Harris was 41-year-old when he exchanged vows with David Burtka in Italy in September 2014.
