#AmIADouche: For not asking my girlfriend’s dad if I could propose to his daughter?
Updated | By Stacey Norman on East Coast Radio
Marriage is always a sensitive topic especially when it comes to different cultures and beliefs.

Hi Stacey
So, a few weeks ago, I bought a ring and I was planning to surprise my girlfriend by proposing at a dinner in our home. I asked her family members and friends to send us special videos with advice on marriage. Her dad responded to my request by saying that I should have asked his permission first before proposing.
I was taken aback by this because I really do not think the whole asking the dad for his daughter’s hand in marriage thing is a big deal. I told him that ultimately it was her decision if she wanted to marry me and that I don’t need his permission to propose to her.
He has since blocked me, and I haven’t proposed because I’m worried I handled things wrong.
