A video of an 80-year-old former ballerina with Alzheimer's being taken back to her dancing days has gone viral on social media.

The woman in the video is Marta C Gonzalez. She becomes animated as she recalls the choreography of Tchaikovsky’s 'Swan Lake'. Marta, using her hands and upper body, can be seen transforming into a performer once again.

Ballet dancing is known as one of the most technically challenging forms of dance, which is why it is said that young men or women who have an interest in ballet need to be trained from as soon as they can walk.

Such is the strenuous years of training that most dancers are able to perform their movements years after giving up the vocation.

This is ever so clear with this video of Marta C Gonzalez:

Marta showed how performers never forget their training as she listened to the classical soundtrack through headphones. From her wheelchair, she begins to recall the upper-body choreography and gives an incredible show to her audience.

Actor Antonio Banderas shared the video on Facebook, paying tribute to the former ballerina.
