Umakoti ngowethu: Traditional wedding bliss for Babes Wodumo and Mampintsha

It was a star-studded affair this weekend and one of Mzansi's most popular and controversial couple, Babes Wodumo and Mampintsha, made it official in a traditional wedding ceremony.

The likes of DJ Tira, Danger, and Lvovo were all part of the festivities of the traditional nuptials of Mr and Mrs Maphumulo.

Bongekile 'Babes Wodumo' Simelane and Mandla 'Mampintsha' Maphumulo celebrated their love through a traditional wedding this past weekend in KwaZulu-Natal.

Late last year, Mampintsha paid lobola for his bride to be and on Sunday he gathered their close friends and family for a massive celebration.

The groom met up with his blushing bride at a large ampitheatre where Babes was waiting with a large choir. The couple then watched an array of traditional dances and songs being sung. It is said that the celebrations were being filmed for their upcoming Showmax reality show special, 'Uthando Lodumo'.

The white wedding is said to follow later on this year.

Babes and Mampintsha's engagement was met with a lot of suspicion. Many felt that the engagement was a publicity stunt.

“Be my wife Ma Simelane. It’s been years, it’s been a long time my love,” Mampintsha was heard saying as he went down on one knee.

Congratulations to the happy couple!
