Not only does this hit close to home in places such as Tongaat, but even the Eastern Cape has had their taps run dry.

In protest of the unfair living conditions, residents have taken to the streets on the R67 between Fort Beaufort and Alice to express their frustration.

News 24 reports: "Many areas in Fort Beaufort in the Eastern Cape have had intermittent water supply since the middle of November. Residents’ anger erupted after criminals damaged one of the water pump stations on 11 January which left thousands of households in several wards without water."

It is further reported that the Amathole District Municipality Mayor Anele Ntsangani believes the attack was an act of sabotage. He has ordered the pump station to be fixed and that armed guards be placed there around the clock.
