Man wins the jackpot but wants to keep it a secret

How well can you keep a secret? A jackpot winner's baby mama signed an NDA to keep his jackpot under wraps but breached the agreement...

Winning the jackpot is generally associated with an overflowing joy that leaves people excited and in shock.

But in saying that, there are those who feel that winning comes with certain conditions. For instance, when you win there is this expectation on the winner to loan people money or worse gift them with holidays and presents...

As if winning was an immediate association with that big guy who lives in the North Pole...

One man (from Maine, USA) won the Mega Millions jackpot in January and decided that he wanted his win of $1.35 billion (R25.3 billion) to be a secret.

So, he asked the mother of his child to sign a non-disclosure agreement. The agreement terms asked her not to disclose his jackpot win to anyone for almost a decade.

"But despite the agreement, the baby daddy — who filed suit under the name John Doe — discovered in September that the woman spilled the tea without his permission ahead of time and then tried to keep her flub from him, the filing alleges." (New York Post)

The man was so livid about his daughter's mom's blabbing that he wanted a judge to force the woman to reveal (in writing) who she told about his jackpot win.

He also wanted her to pay him $100,000 (R1.8 million) for each time she blurted the news to someone.

Yikes, talk about holding a grudge.

The woman did tell the man's father and step-mother over a phone call and now many others know about it.

He has shared that the release of his winnings has caused him irreparable damage.

We can totally understand how difficult it is for some people, sometimes when your family know that you have money, they can be quite aggressive in pushing their agendas on you.

But like Oprah said, you need to learn how to say 'NO' and stop feeling guilty about it. Boundaries people, let's learn how to have boundaries and respect others for their boundaries.
