This has caused many fuming residents to question what pesticide was used and how it may have caused this couple's unexpected passing.
IOL reported that provincial police spokesperson Lieutenant-Colonel Nqobile Gwala said an inquest docket was opened at Berea SAPS.
“A post-mortem will be conducted to determine the cause of death and the circumstances surrounding the incident are being investigated.”- Lieutenant-Colonel Nqobile Gwala
Furthermore, it was revealed that the chemical allegedly used to fumigate the flat was prohibited for residential use. This is according to information provided by the Pest Control Federation of South Africa (PCFSA).
“This chemical is very dangerous and should only be used outdoors or in isolated buildings, not a residential block with neighbours on either side."

- Are the chemicals harmful to humans?
- How dangerous is fumigation?
- Do I need to remove all furniture and belongings?
- How long will the period last?
- Is the company I am using registered?
