Fans are outraged at this abuse of employer resources...
After an unfortunate incident where a copywriter that works for the BBC wrote controversial and unprofessional phrases on the ticker, the BBC has had to apologise.
A ticker is the scrolling electronic display of news headlines at the bottom of the television screen.
This individual wrote a phrase that angered Manchester United fans everywhere: "Manchester United are rubbish."

Many fans have opposing views and thoughts on the situation. Listen to our Sports Presenter, Nick Tatham, discuss this controversy below:
BBC News has reported that there were further disturbing phrases that were published, including: "Weather rain everywhere."
BBC has since apologised for this oversight and are working on a plan to ensure this never happens again.

The BBC presenter that apologised gave the following explanation:
"Behind the scenes, someone was training to learn how to use the ticker and to put the text on the ticker so they were just writing random things not in earnest and that comment appeared. So apologies if you saw that and you were offended, and you are a fan of Manchester United, that was certainly a mistake and was not meant to appear on the screen."- BBC News Presenter
Despite many die-hard fans being left red faced after the comment, the anger has died down since this occurred on Tuesday and many are making light of the situation now.
